RE: What made you decide to install Timbrens?

Well the first ones I got were almost 3" of clearance they were the correct ones as per the book ,but thats too much clearance, called timbrin of Ca and they sent me a box of spacers(2 sets)it seems the catalogue was confusing to the counter guy.

RE: Updates for 09 F250's

The guy is just posting information, the fanboy post shoulds be over on a dodge site really. I drive a cummins powered bluebird and it is the best (school) bus to drive in the fleet ,but this is a RV site take your tudes elsewhere

RE: What made you decide to install Timbrens?

Dunejunkie The correct Timbrins will have no effect on your empty ride, somebody sold you the wrong ones. A call to Timbrin would have solved this as they are very good about customer service. My empty clearance is just over a 1 1/2'and it takes a sharp speed bump a little too fast to feel them tap the axle. It is suprising how little the rear axle travels unloaded.

RE: 7.3 PSD or newer Gasser

I do some nice cross country trips. Yellowstone, Maine, Canada so far. Eventually Grand Canyon and the other National Parks. But 95% of the driving will be for work where I do about 140 miles per day. I figured a diesel will last longer and get me some fuel savings. Would a F350 drive train and other parts hold up longer than the F250? I do not carry a ton of weight. Mostly I carry tools, and some construction materials, etc. A 250 would suit me, but wonder if a 350 would outlast a 250 by a lot. A 250 and 350 are the same except for a extra leaf on the rear axle, not sure about a duel wheel set up.

RE: Ford 6.0 PSD "just quits" Has this ever happened to you?

My 7.3 just quit, started and a few days later just quit then CEL, took it in dealer replaced CPS under warrenty no problems since ,I dont belive with the injector presuresin a diesel that it is possible to "vapour lock" as there is no vapour in the first place.

RE: Need advice on a Diesel problem

Maybe something to do with the fuel filter?I have the same truck and its not hard to do but maybe they gave the job to the oil change kid and now you have a air leak into the fuel system.I also had the CPS changed(second one) but it never ran rough after,It will stall a few times before it quits for good but never had it run rough for any reason.

RE: Have you priced Trojan T-105's lately? $160!!

Cost of metals including lead are rising,Ive got a old sailboat keel going to a keel foundry in a few weeks and its worth big bucks. The value of the US greenback(worldwide)doesn't help.

RE: Diesel Fuel (life)

Some one posted here that he did inspections on the DEW line in the 70's, the generator fuel was good even after decades of storage IF the moisture is controled.

RE: Timbrens on '08 3/4 ton

I was wondering about those, they are yellow on the 08 I saw and different sizes between 4x4 ,250 ,350 but its seemed to me that ford is using what looks like "factory" Timbrins. Do you even need them now?

RE: cross-Canada budget

Drove RT 2 last summer to get to Alberta, cheaper fuel than on the interstates ( much less than Canada) agree will others here , very good roads very low traffic volumes.

RE: 5th Wheel Buying - Thor Jazz vs. Triple E Topaz

Triple E numbers every part they make ,you can go back years later and get replacements to match, and the plumping on mine looks like the stuff rated to 200 psi. They did start out as a plumping firm in the 60's I think. Heavy for the size,VERY well made, thermopane windows, come with michilens etc etc live with one for a while and discover small details that say we cared.Winkler Man. is a menninite town and it shows.
